WEDNESDAY, 28 DECEMBER 2011 Exposing the 10 biggest lies in the Tory manifesto The Tories said they would offer personalised tailored help to the long term unemployed but the Tories hid their plans to force disabled young people and others to working for profit making companies like Tescos UNPAID (p.15) . The Tories said they would create 400,000 work pairing college basedapprenticeship schemes over 2 years but at this moment there are less than 10,000 apprenticeship places UK-wide (p.17). The Tories said 'We will reduce Youth Unemployment' (p.5), but it has risen to an all time high. The Tories said they'd cut Child Benefit for families earning more than £50,000 but they actually cut it to families earning £44,000. (p.8) The Tories said they'd raise the Pension Age (SPA) to 66, but they actually raised it to 67 (p.8). The Tories promised to protect Child Trust Funds for the bottom 33% poorest children but instead they axed them for all children. (p.8). The Tories said they would give power to the Bank of England to crack down on risky bonuses but nothing was done, in fact bank bonuses topped £6bn this year (p.29). The government said they will protect the Winter Fuel Payments & DLA funding but they have cut them by £100 per person, and cut DLA for children receiving chemotherapy since they came to power (p.42). The Tories said they would provide 4,200 extra Sure Start personnel, instead they have cut £812m funding from the families and children budget that has resulted in the closing of more than 300 Sure Start Centres. (p.43). The Tories claimed they would reduce unemployment and improve economic growth but the opposite has occurred. (p.3). In addition, the Tories concealed their plans to cut EMA and raise VAT to 20%. They were also deliberately vague on their support for increased tuition fees.Read the manifesto yourself by viewing the document below..
